From November 1 through January 4, you can design, press, and personalize your own hat—right in the most iconic department store in the world.
The Mess Hall Experience
Our pop-up is packed with New York exclusive embroidered patches, enamel pins, and festive add-ons, all ready to mix and match onto your custom hat. Whether you’re gifting a friend or treating yourself, every creation is one-of-a-kind and made on the spot by our hat-barista team.
Pro tip: it takes about ten minutes to make—but you’ll talk about it all season.
Introducing Mess Market
Just steps away from the hat bar, we’re unveiling something brand new — Mess Market, a curated mini-shop filled with ready-made merch, exclusive NYC designs, and limited-edition holiday drops. Think city-themed hats, cozy beanies, and collectible patches you won’t find anywhere else.
It’s the perfect spot to grab a gift, take home a piece of New York, or stock up on Mess Hall classics before they’re gone.
From Savannah to the City
Mess Hall started in Savannah, Georgia — a colorful, creative “fake food” concept where customers build custom hats instead of burgers. Each store feels like a retro cafeteria turned art studio, filled with laughter, style, and storytelling.
Now, we’re taking that Southern creativity and serving it up in the middle of New York’s busiest shopping season. So whether you’re a long-time Mess Hall fan or discovering us for the first time at Macy’s, we can’t wait to meet you, make some hats, and spread a little Southern holiday cheer — one patch at a time.
